A pharmacogenomic (PGx) test reads the genes that control how your body activates, metabolises and responds to medications. It shows which drugs are likely to work well for you, which may be less effective, and which may need a different dose or an alternative — information you keep for life, because your genotype does not change.
People respond very differently to the same medication. Much of that variation is genetic: enzymes such as CYP2D6, CYP2C19 and others determine how quickly a drug is broken down, which affects both effectiveness and side-effects. A PGx report translates your genotype into practical prescribing guidance across common drug classes.
