The primary female sex hormone; regulates menstrual cycle, bone, and heart health. Estradiol (E2) is measured by blood test as part of the Hormonal panel in the HodieLabs Health Blueprint.
Note: this biomarker is measured and interpreted for females; reference ranges are sex-specific.
Estradiol varies dramatically across the menstrual cycle. Specify cycle day or menopausal status. In post-menopausal women, estradiol <73 pmol/L is expected; levels above this warrant investigation.
Associated risks when out of range: Bone loss risk (low). Cardiovascular risk (low). Hormonal imbalance (high).
The evidence base behind how the HodieLabs Evidence-Based Clinical Library interprets Estradiol (E2), from randomised trials, prospective cohorts and genetic (Mendelian randomisation) studies. Full citations in the reference list below.
The HodieLabs Evidence-Based Clinical Library interprets Estradiol (E2) against published clinical authority standards, never arbitrary "optimal" ranges. Measured in pmol/L:
Recommended testing frequency: Annual, as part of a comprehensive panel. Single markers are always interpreted in context.
Estradiol (E2) is measured in every Health Blueprint at our Melbourne Preventative Health & Longevity Clinic, interpreted by a doctor against the guideline-cited ranges above and tracked over time through your HodieLabs membership.

The primary female sex hormone; regulates menstrual cycle, bone, and heart health.
The HodieLabs Evidence-Based Clinical Library optimal range is context-dependent (see the range table on this page) pmol/L, based on Endocrine Society reproductive endocrinology guidelines; estradiol phase-dependent: follicular 100–300, ovulatory 300–1200, luteal 150–600 pmol/L.
Annual testing is recommended for most adults as part of a comprehensive preventative panel; more often if a result is being actively managed.
Evidence-supported levers include: resistance training, body composition optimisation, medical review (cycle/hrt context). Interpretation and an action plan should always involve your doctor.
