A low-dose CT (LDCT) chest scan is a detailed, low-radiation scan of the lungs and chest. In people at higher risk of lung cancer, particularly current and former smokers, LDCT screening has strong randomised-trial evidence for detecting cancer earlier and reducing lung-cancer death.
Lung cancer is often diagnosed late. In higher-risk groups, LDCT can detect small, early, treatable cancers, and also reveals other chest and early cardiovascular findings.
LDCT lung findings are reported using the Lung-RADS categories:
A low-dose CT chest scan is offered as a doctor-referred add-on to any HodieLabs membership, with suitability assessed individually and results interpreted at our Melbourne Preventative Health & Longevity Clinic.

It detects lung nodules and other chest findings, and is used to screen for early lung cancer, particularly in current and former smokers. Findings are graded using Lung-RADS.
The strongest evidence is in higher-risk people, current and former heavy smokers within recommended age ranges, where LDCT reduces lung-cancer death.
It uses a low dose of radiation. Suitability is assessed individually, balancing benefit against the chance of incidental findings.
Lung-RADS is a standardised system for reporting lung screening CT findings, from category 1 (negative) to 4 (suspicious), guiding follow-up.
