The most abundant blood protein; reflects liver function and nutritional status. Albumin is measured by blood test as part of the Organ panel in the HodieLabs Health Blueprint.
Albumin is a negative acute phase reactant. It drops during inflammation, infection, and surgery. Low albumin in the absence of inflammation suggests liver synthetic dysfunction or malnutrition.
Associated risks when out of range: Frailty risk proxy (low), Inflammation/nutrition issues (low), Liver/kidney disease (contextual).
The evidence base behind how the HodieLabs Evidence-Based Clinical Library interprets Albumin, from randomised trials, prospective cohorts and genetic (Mendelian randomisation) studies. Full citations in the reference list below.
The HodieLabs Evidence-Based Clinical Library interprets Albumin against published clinical authority standards, never arbitrary "optimal" ranges. Measured in g/L:
Recommended testing frequency: Annual, as part of a comprehensive panel. Single markers are always interpreted in context.
Albumin is measured in every Health Blueprint at our Melbourne Preventative Health & Longevity Clinic, interpreted by a doctor against the guideline-cited ranges above and tracked over time through your HodieLabs membership.

The most abundant blood protein; reflects liver function and nutritional status.
The HodieLabs Evidence-Based Clinical Library optimal range is 33–46 g/L, based on Aligned with largest Australian pathology laboratory reference interval; albumin 33–46 g/L. Consistent with RCPA guidance (35–50 g/L narrowed to match BCG-method assay ranges used by major Australian labs).
Annual testing is recommended for most adults as part of a comprehensive preventative panel; more often if a result is being actively managed.
Evidence-supported levers include: improve protein intake if appropriate, address inflammation drivers, clinical review if low. Interpretation and an action plan should always involve your doctor.
